This week, the Cincinnati Bengals host the New England Patriots, as the 2019 season is marching to a close. From a record standpoint, the teams hold a stark dichotomy, but both have experienced quite a bit of losing lately.
Adding fuel to the fire is “SpyGate II”, or “VideoGate”, or whatever you want to call it. And, because the Patriots are such fans of film, we feel that this week’s “Chalk Talk” is an extra special episode.

The Bengals and rookie head coach Zac Taylor face a difficult task as they prepare to face off against the greatest coach of all time. I lay out the basics of a game plan that might give them a shot.
As we all know, Bill Belichick is the king of exploiting matchups to tip the game in his team’s favor. As I go over recent film for both New England and Cincinnati, we look at a few aspects for the upcoming contest:
- How can the Bengals stop Julian Edelman?
- Has the running game improved enough to move the ball on New England?
- How can they get players open against a loaded Patriots’ secondary?
