The latest piece of A.J. Green news is not exactly a promising one.

After missing game No. 14 of 16 yesterday, the Bengals’ star receiver met with Dr. Robert Anderson, who is a foot specialist based on Green Bay, Wisconsin, per Adam Schefter.

For the past several weeks, head coach Zac Taylor has conveyed the same message regarding Green: he wants to play. Green has not practiced this year when he hasn’t felt like he was ready to come back to the field, and like Schefter said, if he’s meeting his foot doctor this late in the season, it makes it all the more unlikely that he’ll get a positive prognosis on his condition.

During his press conference today, Taylor noted that he’ll speak with Green before providing an update on his status. The subject of this meeting will probably be the center of the conversation.

Despite what most fans want, Taylor and the Bengals want to end the regular season with as many wins as possible. If Green gets good news and is able to practice this week, he’ll practice and prepare to make his debut. If not, he won’t. By Wednesday, more clarity should arrive.
