Update: Brandon Wilson has since been placed on the Reserve/Injured list and he will miss the rest of the season along with this game.
The Bengals have declared four players out for Sunday’s game against the Browns; three of whom did not practice this week.
Sam Hubbard (knee) and Brandon Wilson (hand) will join A.J. Green (ankle) and Drew Sample (ankle) on the sidelines this week. Hubbard missed every practice this week along with Green and Sample. Wilson was limited on Wednesday and then a full participant on Thursday but could not go full today. Zac Taylor was hopeful that Hubbard would be able to play without practicing, but this won’t be the case.
With Hubbard out, expect Carl Lawson to start in his place as the edge rusher opposite of Carlos Dunlap. Anthony Zettel should also expect to see some playing time after being inactive for the past few weeks.
Replacing Wilson on defense will be Clayton Fejedelem. Wilson had been playing more often as the third safety in specific defensive packages. Special teams will look different without him as well as the Bengals have watched Wilson become the NFL’s best kickoff return man since the middle portion of this season. Alex Erickson or Darius Phillips figure to replace him on kickoffs.
On a more positive note, there have been no setbacks for Cethan Carter (concussion), Nick Vigil (ankle), or Shawn Williams (ankle) and they will each be good to go for Sunday. All three players were limited on Wednesday.
The Browns will have the trio of Baker Mayfield (hand/ribs), Odell Beckham Jr. (groin), and Jarvis Landry (hip) out there but have listed Demetrious Harris (shoulder), Chris Hubbard (knee), JC Tretter (knee), and Olivier Vernon (knee) as questionable. Eric Murray (knee) is doubtful and Robert Jackson (ankle) is out.
