It’s been a bad year for Bengals draft picks.

The Bengals have signed defensive back Trayvon Henderson off the practice squad and placed tight end Drew Sample on injured reserve.

Sample, the team’s second-round draft pick this year out of the University of Washington, suffered an ankle injury on Nov. 10 vs. the Ravens. He played in the Bengals’ first nine games this season with two starts and recorded five receptions for 30 yards.

The rookie has been rehabbing ever since, and it looked like he may be able to return before the season ended. Sadly, Sample joins Jonah Williams and Rodney Anderson as draft picks to end up missing most of 2019 with injuries.

Henderson, a second-year player, originally was a college free agent signee out of the University of Hawaii in 2018. He spent his rookie season on the Reserve/Injured list after suffering a knee injury in preseason. He has spent all 12 games this season on the practice squad.
