Yesterday it was reported that former Bengals defensive end Eric Henderson was being courted by Cincinnati and the Los Angeles Rams to become their defensive line coach.
The Rams were the first to make an offer to hire Henderson, and they closed the deal last night, per Ian Rapoport.
Henderson was the Chargers’ assistant defensive line coach for the last two seasons, and was with Oklahoma State and the University of Texas at San Antonio for four years prior to that.
At just 36 years old, Henderson is climbing up the coaching ranks fast. His playing career only amounted to just two games with the Bengals, and Zac Taylor’s former team was able to hire him before the Bengals got the chance.
Defensive line coach and linebackers coach are the two main vacancies left on the Bengals’ coaching staff. Cincinnati was reportedly interested in interviewing Saints’ assistant Michael Hodges for the latter role, so we’ll see where that goes shortly.
