Jack Del Rio won’t be Bengals’ DC

That’s unfortunate.

NFL: Oakland Raiders at Los Angeles Chargers Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The Bengals won’t be hiring Jack Del Rio after all.

Del Rio was scheduled to interview for the team’s defensive coordinator spot later this week, but apparently, both sides decided it wasn’t a good fit.

Who knows why it ultimately fell through, but regardless, the Bengals have missed out on their top defensive coordinator target. Cincinnati also showed interest in Saints defensive coordinator Dennis Allen, but he opted to stay in New Orleans.

Now, the focus will likely shift back to Dom Capers, the former defensive coordinator of the Packers who was out of work this past season.

Of course, new Bengals head coach Zac Taylor could look at other coordinator candidates that may currently be on other NFL staffs. Taylor really needs to look around and interview other candidates before he settles on Capers, if that’s who will ultimately be the pick.

Who would you like to see become the Bengals’ next defensive coordinator?
