Zac Taylor has to help fill out the rest of the Bengals’ coaching staff, and there are plenty of openings remaining. One of the most important vacancies was at offensive line coach, and the position is no longer vacant.
Former Dolphins and Texas A&M offensive line coach Jim Turner will be hired by the Bengals per Texas A&M head coach Jimbo Fisher. Turner coached alongside Taylor when Taylor was a graduate assistant at Texas A&M and later when they were both on the Dolphins’ staff. Of course Turner was in charge of Miami’s offensive line during the bullying/harassment scandal led by Richie Incognito against Jonathan Martin. Something Turner even participated in.
After being fired by the Dolphins in 2014, Turner didn’t find another job until 2016 when he returned to Texas A&M as the offensive line coach. He didn’t even make it to the first game before he was suspended by the team for making sexist jokes at a football clinic for women.
At this point there are undoubtedly fans who will only care about what he would be able to do for the Bengals on the field. Well you’re in luck because his offensive lines have never really been good. In 2013 the Dolphins had the 29th ranked rushing attack in the NFL, and Ryan Tannehill was sacked 58 times. It didn’t get much better as his offensive lines at Texas A&M haven’t been impressive the past few seasons either.
What do you think though?
