The start of NFL free agency is here, sort of.
Monday marks the first day teams can begin speaking with outside free agents, but they cannot be signed to a contract until Wednesday, the 2019 league year and free agency period officially begin at 4:00 pm EST. Free agents are still able to re-sign with their own team between now and then, but if they’ve made it this far, they’re likely to see what other teams are offering.
However, we’ll see many free agents reach agreements on new deals before then, so there should be plenty of fireworks in the coming days, and there should be some pop today. We’ve already seen a host of trades being agreed to that can’t’ become official until Wednesday, including Steelers receiver Antonio Brown landing with the Raiders.
The Bengals are hoping to keep their key free agents, including Darqueze Dennard, Tyler Eifert and C.J. Uzomah. Hopefully, one or more of them signs a new deal to remain in Cincinnati this week.
Come join the fun in today’s open thread!
