The Bengals had an interesting Day 2 of the NFL Draft.
They started off by trading back in the second round to pick up an extra fourth and sixth round selection. They used their first pick to select tight end Drew Sample. Then they selected their first linebacker of the draft by adding Germaine Pratt.
Here is some of the best social media reaction to the Bengals second day of selections:
Lets get Sample out of the way first...

The Drew Sample pick was such a surprise that it is lucky that he wasn't at End Game when the Bengals called him

You know when your team makes a pick like this and the next 10 picks go without you even noticing because you're in shock?

after seeing the tweets about the bengals never messing up the second round i was *this* close to getting the jokes off.

never hesitate.
You aren’t the only one surprised by the #Bengals selecting Drew Sample in the 2nd round. He expected to hear his name called in the 3rd or 4th round. @WCPO

You will obviously have a hard time finding somebody with a 2nd round grade on Drew Sample.

PFF: 192 overall
Dane Brugler: 4th/5th
Jordan Reid: 6th
NFL Network: 4th
TE Coach Casey: "We do see him as adequate in the passing game".
— Bill Nottingham (@bill_nottingham) April 27, 2019
Hooray, adequacy!
Of course it didn’t help that the Dolphins traded their second round pick for quarterback Josh Rosen shortly after the Bengals pick
So glad the Bengals didn’t give up their 2nd rounder for him. Why get a franchise QB when you can have an adequate tight end? https://t.co/emyHpZF1a8

It wasn’t all bad though
FWIW someone in the business texted me tonight and said the scouts were higher on Sample than the media was, and that he wasn't going to last much longer. Take it for what it's worth. And no, this was not Mike Brown's burner account. https://t.co/cluqxvhXsL

The Bengals are going to run the football and run a ton of play action. That's part of what makes this scheme work in their mind. That made the run-blocking prowess of Sample stand out to them.

Damn me.

The Bengals next pick certainly made up for the head scratcher in the second round
Pratt on who he watched: "Used to watch Ed Reed growing up ... Now I'm my own person. Germaine Pratt. I'm trying to create my own legacy."
— Paul Dehner Jr. (@pauldehnerjr) April 27, 2019
There is one constant with the first three picks by the #Bengals: character. Williams is a “football junkie”, Sample just got married and Pratt is “mature beyond his years”. Taylor preached it in his pressers and these guys are examples.

Anarumo on Pratt: “He’s a tough guy, he’s an alpha kinda guy... he looks like an NFL linebacker.” #Bengals

I had Pratt ranked above Bush after my first wave watching film
— Matt Minich (@CoachMinich) April 27, 2019
Guy is a dude
Just got a text from someone whose number I don't recognize. He or she says Germaine Pratt is an "absolute steal." Says we will "really like him." I have no idea who this person is, and lack the heart to ask, but I figured I'd share.

Pratt had more consistency and ran a 4.57, whereas Wilson was up-and-down and ran near 4.7. That’s my guess. https://t.co/Vb4gkWO5qe

Me seeing the Bengals 3nd Round pick after feeling depressed about their 2nd Round pick pic.twitter.com/u2HMHRgP89

Overall the haul looks much better as a whole instead of individually
sample was my favorite tight end at the senior bowl and pratt was my favorite linebacker.
— john sheeran (@John__Sheeran) April 27, 2019
From a pure player addition standpoint, I don't think the Bengals have had a bad couple of days at all.
— Mo Egger (@MoEgger1530) April 27, 2019
If the Bengals flipped their 2nd and 3rd round picks, everyone would be a lot more happy. The draft is a process. Better to look at the big picture than obsess over each pick.
