It’s that time of the summer when talking heads start putting out their various NFL rankings for the upcoming season.
Former Buccaneers quarterback and current NBC Sports analyst Chris Simms just put out his ranking of the league’s top quarterbacks, and boy is it something...
That’s a wrap on the QB Countdown. Appreciate you all following along even when the ranks trigger angry reactions. Lots of good discussion #simmsqbranks pic.twitter.com/jr6quFAmGP

Simms has Dalton down at the 26th spot, which suggests he’s someone that should even have a starting spot assured and may be better suited as a backup. Even the biggest Dalton detractors would admit he’s still good enough to be a full-time starter in this league.
And while guys like Josh Allen, Kyler Murray and Sam Darnold may end up being better than Dalton, it’s still too early to have them ranked higher until they prove more on the field.
But that’s just the beginning of how bad this ranking is. Seeing Tom Brady at No. 9, behind Cam Newton of all people, immediately makes this list a joke. There’s a far better argument that Dalton is better than Newton than Newton is better than Brady.
Give me a break.
If you’re interested, here is Simms’ explanation of having Dalton at 26th.
