SI found a winner for their jersey re-design contest

Paul Lukas of Sports Illustrated declared an overall winner and a winner in several categories for the design challenge he posted.

By now, Bengals fans are well familiar with the fact that when it comes to their favorite NFL team, the national media has no clue what they’re talking about.

Four example, Sports Illustrated’s Paul Lukas strongly felt that the Bengals’ uniforms were one of the worst in the league and that they needed to be re-designed. So he decided to host a re-design contest to see if he could upgrade what he thought to be an outdated uniform.

As it turned out, Lukas was in for a few surprises. For example, he did not realize how much Bengals fans love the striped helmets. He also did not realize that the current logos are more or less fairly well loved.

Lukas went on to choose a winning design that actually looks pretty good. The main upgrades, submitted by Dan Stewart, include nixing the white side panel (which was the only thing that he and Bengals fans agreed on) and adding stripes to the entire shoulder yoke.

Lukas also chose winners for individual categories and included a link where you can see all of the submissions.

What do you think about the new designs?
