Ahead of training camp, the Cincinnati Bengals have made a trio of roster moves.
On Thursday, the team re-signed longtime offensive tackle Andre Smith. The team also signed free agent long-snapper Dan Godsil and waived wide receiver Kermit Whitfield.
Smith (6-4, 325), who was originally a first-round pick of the Bengals in 2009, has played 98 of his 110 career games with Cincinnati. He spent the final five games of last season with the Bengals (three starts), after opening the season with the Arizona Cardinals. He figures to be the team’s backup right tackle behind the incumbent Bobby Hart.
Godsil (6-4, 233), a rookie, spent the last four seasons (2015-18) at Indiana University, where he played in 50 career games. He has not previously been with an NFL team and will be classified as a college free agent.
Whitfield, a first-year player, joined the Bengals as a free agent in 2017 out of Florida State and spent the last two seasons on the practice squad.
