It seems like A.J. Green’s ankle injury has gotten worse everyday since he was carted off the field from Friday’s camp opener.
The initial belief was it was just a low-ankle sprain that may cost him several weeks of camp and the preseason. Then it turned into a 6-8 week injury that put his status for Week 1 in jeopardy.
Then on Tuesday, Green underwent a surgical procedure to clean up the ankle. The expectation is now that Green will miss multiple regular-season games, head coach Zac Taylor revealed.
Zac says A.J. Green will miss regular season games. “Hopefully just a couple.”

This actually came right as NFL network reporter Ian Rapoport said the expectation now was Green misses multiple games.
We can pretty much cross off Green playing Week 1 vs. the Seahawks, and it sounds like we shouldn’t expect him for Week 2 vs. the 49ers either. Perhaps a return in Week 3 vs. the Bills or Week 4 vs. the Steelers is when we’ll see Green make his 2019 debut.
