Quarterback Jake Dolegala went from a long shot to make the Bengals roster, to a player that had a legitimate case to stick around.

That case proved to be strong enough. Dolegala will make the Bengals final roster, per Tim Graham of The Athletic.

Dolegala made the most of the opportunities he was given this preseason. Throwing for 347 yards and two touchdowns while completing 69.8 percent of his attempts, he essentially paved his way from a practice squad spot to the active roster. His arm strength was the most impressive aspect of his game; he was able to zip the ball to just about anywhere on the field.

This move means that quarterback Jeff Driskel’s time with the team has most likely come to an end; NFL teams usually don’t keep four quarterbacks on the 53-man roster. He was given chances during practice at receiver and on special teams recently as rookie quarterback Ryan Finley had seemingly surpassed him as the backup to Andy Dalton.

Dolegala is a nice stash player who will create competition with Finley as he backup for right now, but who knows how high the ceiling will go for Dolegala. Most of probably didn’t think he could get to this point, so who is to say what he will be able to accomplish down the road.
