One day after being signed to the practice squad, Greg Mabin is now on the 53-man roster.
On Wednesday, the Bengals signed Mabin to the roster and waived guard Keaton Sutherland in a corresponding move.
Mabin has spent time with Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2017, Buffalo Bills and San Francisco 49ers throughout his three-year career. He’s played in 20 career games (one start) with 18 tackles, one pass defense and one forced fumble.
Sutherland, a rookie, was a college free agent signee of the Bengals in May, and he was signed off the practice squad on Sept. 17. The team will probably try to get him back on the practice squad if he clears waivers.
Sutherland was initially signed to the roster to replace Michael Jordan, who was sidelined last week with a knee injury. However, Jordan did recover enough that he was listed as questionable on the final injury report, so one would think he’ll be good to go this week since he’ll have an extra day of rest before Cincinnati faces the Steelers on Monday Night Football. Waiving Sutherland only reinforces this belief.
