Chalk Talk: What is happening to the Bengals on third down?

Why did the Bengals struggle on third down against the Eagles?

Rookie quarterback Joe Burrow has looked very impressive in his first three starts, but the Bengals offense has had their struggles as well.

They have not been able to run the ball effectively. They have not been able to regularly stretch the field with deep passes. But perhaps the biggest issue has been their lack of success in converting 3rd Downs.

The Bengals were three of 13 converting third downs in Week 3 compared to the 10 of 21 performance by the Eagles on third downs.

Improving in this area would obviously give the Bengals more opportunities to score, but extending drives would also help their defense.

The Eagles had the ball for roughly 5 minutes longer than the Bengals and ran a total of 91 plays.

Obviously this was an overtime game, but that is a ton of plays.

So what is going on with the offense on third down?

I took a look at just that in this video.
