Joe Mixon injury update

The Bengals aren’t going to win many, if any more games this season when Mixon isn’t playing.

The Cincinnati Bengals won’t have star running back Joe Mixon when they take on the Cleveland Browns in Week 7. It’s also looking like he could be sidelined for Week 8 when the Tennessee Titans come to Paul Brown Stadium.

According to NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport, Mixon could miss multiple games due to his foot injury, which puts his status for next week in serious doubt.

The good news is the Bengals get a bye in Week 9 before playing at the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 10. While he’s out, the Bengals figure to give a heavy workload to veteran Giovani Bernard, while fellow veteran back Samaje Perine will likely be the backup. Rookie Trayveon Williams could also get some run.

The Bengals have just one win this season, and that was a game where Mixon was easily the best player on the field, as he ran for 181 yards and three scores in a Week 4 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Given all of the Bengals issues right now, it’s going to be hard for them to beat anyone left on the schedule without Mixon, so hopefully he’s back in the lineup very soon.
