Coming out of the bye having won their second game of the season over the then 5-1 Titans, the Bengals will have a tough final eight games. Through the first eight, the Bengals were 2-5-1, which included tying the Eagles in Week 3.
Aside from the Week 3 tie and Week 8 victory, the Bengals defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars 33-25 in Week 4. The Bengals have a two-game and three-game losing streak to their name, accounting for all five of their losses.
Now, with Joe Burrow hitting stride and being mentioned in the NFL MVP conversation, the Bengals will be faced with divisional rivals the Steelers in Week 10. The Steelers are the league’s only undefeated team and have a dominant defensive line.
Per usual, protecting Burrow will be of utmost importance, but the Bengals did well to craft a game plan around having the rookie get the ball out early and often against Tennessee. They’ll have to use it several times as their line may still have a subpar second half of the season.
With the Giants, Redskins, Texans and Cowboys on the schedule as well, the Bengals will have room to improve their record as those are a few of the league’s worst teams.
The Bengals, aside from those four, have two matchups with Pittsburgh, one against Baltimore and one other against the impressive Dolphins.
They could at least end the season with six or more wins, especially if they’re as impressive for the remainder of the season as they were against the Titans. Everything is coming together for this team.
That said, how do you think the Bengals will do during the second half of the season?
