It would be just lovely if the Cincinnati Bengals could have three wins and still be a possible playoff team. Sadly, they play in the AFC North, not the NFC East. The AFC North has the league’s only undefeated team and the best team record-wise from a season ago.
Both the Ravens and Steelers have been dominating the division. Somehow, someway— the Browns have also been a competent football team. Then, we have the Bengals that just watched their No. 1 overall pick take a career-changing hit.
Joe Burrow is out for the season with a torn ACL among other substantial knee injuries sustained against Washington Football Team last week. That said, the Bengals still have at least a month of football left that they must struggle through.
This coming week, they’ll be taking on the New York Giants at Paul Brown Stadium.
Both teams will be without their most dominating offensive force. The game would’ve been far more entertaining with Burrow and Saquon Barkley. That just won’t be the case as fans will be welcomed by Brandon Allen and Daniel Jones.
The Giants have something to play for still though. Despite being 3-7, they’re still one game out of first place in the NFC East, the worst division in football. Although it’s the worst, they still have a chance.
The Bengals will be playing without a chance at the postseason and without their star. Morale may be low for the franchise that would likely prefer to lose along with a locker room doesn’t seem in the right place.
With a 5.5 spread favoring New York, Vegas is banking on a big day for the Giants, but they rank in the bottom half of the league in scoring yet also rank in the top half in opponent’s points per game. They have a solid defense with an offense that can’t move the ball.
The Bengals have something similar, but their offense (with Burrow) is better and their defense is worse. Let’s just say with Allen in the pocket and Jones on the other side, this will likely be a punt-heavy game.
Now, it’s time to hear from you.
Who will win? Your Bengals or the New York Giants. This one—especially the spread—will be tough to predict.
