Bengals announce 2 coaches out vs. Giants due to COVID-19

One was confirmed to have contracted the virus.

The Cincinnati Bengals have announced that defensive line coach Nick Eason and secondary/cornerbacks coach Steve Jackson will be unable to attend the team’s Week 12 game vs. the New York Giants on Sunday for COVID-19-related reasons. Eason tested positive for the virus earlier this week.

Defensive assistant coach Gerald Chatman will assume Eason’s responsibilities for the game, while defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo will assume Jackson’s.

Over the last two games, the Bengals have had wide receivers coach Bob Bicknell, secondary/cornerbacks coach Steve Jackson, secondary/safeties coach Robert Livingston, senior defensive assistant Mark Duffner, and linebackers coach Al Golden all miss time due to COVID-19 reasons. Now, Eason will join that group.

Jackson will now miss his third-straight game, so hopefully he’s in good health and not being seriously affected by the virus if he has it.

So far, Eason is the only coach confirmed to have tested positive for the virus. Hopefully, he too is doing well and will be back on the sideline before the Bengals’ 2020 season comes to an end.
