The NFL Trade Deadline has come and gone with no moves being made by the Bengals, which means embattled wide receiver John Ross is staying put.
It looks like the Bengals won’t be trading John Ross or Billy Price. Ross is set to become a free agent next offseason, so perhaps the Bengals would rather get a compensatory pick for him in 2022 than trade him now. It’s hard to see the Bengals getting anything more than a conditional late-round pick for Ross, so you can’t blame the Bengals for thinking they should hold on to him in the event he becomes a contributor at some point this season.
The NFL Trade Deadline has arrived.
The deadline is set for later today at 4:00 p.m. ET, marking the final day for teams to make trades in hopes of bolstering their roster and improving their playoff/Super Bowl odds, while teams in rebuilding mode look to gather more assets in hopes of speeding up their rebuild.
Though there have been plenty of names across the league mentioned as trade bait — including several Bengals — don’t expect a wave of blockbuster moves to happen. In most years, Trade Deadline Day features smaller moves like backups or average starters being traded for late-round picks.
That’s exactly the kind of move Cincinnati could make, as they have question marks throughout the roster of a 2-5-1 team.
What trades do you think will go down today? Who do you want to see the Bengals trade off and/or trade for?
