The Bengals and Cowboys won’t have much to play for Sunday when the two face off in Cincinnati.
While the Cowboys are technically still alive in the NFC East race, they’re now two games behind both the Giants and Washington with four games to play. It’s technically three games in regards to Washington who swept the Cowboys, so their playoff hopes are all but vanquished.
The Bengals were just mathematically eliminated from playoff contention with their loss to the Dolphins last week. All Dallas and Cincinnati really have left to play for now is respect, positive momentum toward 2021, and saving their respective coaches’ jobs.
BetOnline just released their latest odds for the next NFL head coach to be fired, and both Zac Taylor and Mike McCarthy made the list.
Taylor is tied for the seventh-best odds of being the next coach fired, while McCarthy has the ninth-best odds.
I’m gonna go out on a small limb and make a not-very-bold prediction that whoever wins Sunday will save their coaches’ job. The Bengals are looking for any excuse to give Taylor another chance, and Dallas is likely doing the same after just hiring McCarthy this year.
So hey, maybe there is something relevant to play for after all.
