The Cowboys and Bengals have had similar, disappointing seasons. Both teams lost their quarterback for the season, but the injuries did not end there. The Cowboys’ offensive line has been riddled, particularly at tackle, while the Bengals recently put left tackle Jonah Williams on injured reserve.
The Cowboys lost defensive tackle to injury on the 1st day of training camp. Trysten Hill was later injured, and free agent Dontari Poe did not pan out the way they had hoped. The Bengals had Josh Tupou opt-out prior to the season and later lost D.J. Reader. To make matters worse, Geno Atkins is clearly playing through injury. Both teams thought their defensive line would be a strength, but both units have been a liability.
There are also questions surrounding both teams revolving around the future of the coaching staff and the direction the franchise is moving.
