This weekend, the Cincinnati Bengals and Dallas Cowboys will square off at Paul Brown Stadium in a game that may not hold many postseason implications, but it does have plenty of storylines.

The matchup will be a battle of two last-place teams’ as the Bengals at 2-9-1 have already guaranteed themselves a last-place finish in the AFC North, while the Cowboys sit at 3-9, putting them in the NFC East basement.

With Dak Prescott out for the year, the Cowboys are led by long-time Bengal quarterback Andy Dalton. Dalton spent nine seasons with the Bengals (2011-19) in which he led the Bengals to the playoffs five times, was named to the Pro Bowl three times and established himself as one of the most charitable players in the NFL.

After the Bengals landed the top pick in the 2020 draft, which landed them Joe Burrow, they decided to allow Dalton to walk, and he eventually signed with Dallas on a one-year deal.

Dalton has made six starts since Prescott went down Week 5 in which he has thrown for 1,115 yards, seven touchdowns and has thrown six interceptions.

Outside of Dalton’s homecoming, Sunday’s game will have major NFL Draft implications. The Bengals currently hold the third pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, while the Cowboys are slated to pick fourth, meaning the loser of Sunday’s game will have a strong hold on the number three pick.

Despite the rough year for the Cowboys, they enter play road three-point favorites over the Bengals.
