Germaine Pratt is emerging as a top-notch linebacker

The second-year player has excelled in coverage in recent weeks

Yet another bright spot in the Bengals’ splendid, refreshing, and redeeming win over the Pittsburgh Steelers was Germaine Pratt having his best game yet.

Pratt excelled in coverage, with a PFF grade of 90.9. He only allowed two receptions for seven yards and had a near interception.

The second-year linebacker showed a national audience precisely why the Bengals drafted him out of NC State. But while this was perhaps his biggest game, it was part of a trend and not complete unexpected.

Pratt has been the best linebacker in the entire NFL over the last four weeks in coverage, allowing only 11 yards total.

While that is impressive, it only made him the eighteenth highest-graded linebacker on account of his low grade against the run (37.4). Next year, the team can only hope that Pratt develops that element of his game to become a complete linebacker.
