As if nothing else could go wrong in this game.
On the Bengals’ fifth-allowed sack of the day against the Miami Dolphins, quarterback Brandon Allen was injured and left the game with a chest injury. He’s already been ruled out for the remainder of the game.
Injury Report: QB Brandon Allen has been declared out with a chest injury.— Cincinnati Bengals (@Bengals) December 6, 2020
This game has been full of the most nonsensical realities you could possibly conjure up in your mortal mind, so it’s almost fitting that the Bengals’ emergency backup quarterback gets injured after his left tackle gets seriously injured and his backup allows the sack that gets the quarterback injured.
Allen made his first start with the Bengals last week against the New York Giants, the first game that the Bengals didn’t have Joe Burrow to start.
In for Allen comes Ryan Finley, whom the team traded up for in the 2019 NFL Draft but did not get the nod over Allen to start for Burrow last week against New York. Finley will likely finish the game, but who know what will happen from here.
