Bengals Mailbag: Green lights and line looks

New, comment

Bengals fans had a lot of questions centering around A.J. Green’s future, the offensive line and what Cincinnati could do at the backup quarterback position this week.

A lot of chatter is surrounding the Cincinnati Bengals this offseason, but it isn’t all positive. After enduring a franchise-worst (tied) 2-14 season, the media isn’t giving the team a break with a specific anti-Joe-Burrow-to-Cincinnati narrative.

John Sheeran and I took the air on Friday to get some questions in before the weekend. A.J. Green, the state of the offensive line and the possibility of a different veteran quarterback coming in to Cincinnati were topics of conversation.

If you didn’t get yours to us in time—no worries! You always can leave one in the comment sections below before we go live on these episodes, as well as in the live chats within Cincy Jungle’s Facebook page and the YouTube videos.

We also take calls and texts at (949) 542-6241, emails at theobinsider@gmail.com and tweets to @BengalsOBI. You can still get in touch with us, as we collect some questions for a future episode.

Questions asked of us this week included:

  • Are the Bengals going to ship off Andy Dalton and bring in another veteran signal-caller on a cheaper deal, as they likely bring in Joe Burrow? If not, it leaves a rookie with two second-year guys at the position.
  • What is the likelihood that Green stays in Cincinnati beyond a franchise tag deal?
  • Is there any validity to the opinion that Green will be more prone to stay in Cincy with Burrow likely coming into the fold?
  • Just how much will the offensive line improve with the return of Jonah Williams?
  • Some teams have begun shedding contracts off the books in preparation to make moves next month. Why haven’t the Bengals done the same with Cordy Glenn?
