The Cincinnati Bengals may not be the best at recruiting top-tier talent to the Queen City. Don’t worry though because Joe Mixon is here to help.
With a huge hole in the team’s linebacking core, Mixon took to Twitter to invite free agent Joe Schobert, who played last season in the Cleveland Browns, down to Cincinnati.
The Bengals defeated Schobert’s Browns in Week 17, securing the team’s second win of the season.
For Cleveland, that loss, and their lackluster season, basically had the team’s head coach, Freddie Kitchens, already halfway out the door after a discouraging first season. A loss to the Bengals was just the last straw for the team’s front office.
With the first overall pick, the Bengals organization has hope that the 2020 season could be different than their two-win 2019. Joe Schobert, a 6-foot-1 linebacker, led the league in combined tackles in 2017.
He was again dominant in 2019 and will be looking at a big-time contract on the free agency market once March 18 hits.
That said, the Bengals have the cap to spend, and knowing that, Mixon pointed out that he “wouldn’t mind if you came to the better side of Ohio.” Let’s hope Joe’s recommendation can bring a star linebacker to Cincinnati.
Thank You @Browns I have the upmost respect for Joe as a man and a football player. I wouldn’t mind if you came to the better side of Ohio Just sayin ♂️ @TheSchoGoesOn53 https://t.co/udOhMN09vv

Schobert’s market is rather unknown, but it should be a strong one.
He ended the 2019 season with 133 combined tackles, two forced fumbles and four interceptions. He was a bright spot on a Browns’ team that was not even close to reaching early-season expectations.
As for Mixon, he again notched over 1,100 yards on the ground for the second consecutive season and topped over 1,400 all-purpose yards as well. Sadly, the star back who has been in the league three seasons has yet to be nominated to the Pro Bowl.
