New odds for Andy Dalton’s next team

New, comments

A surprise team now has the best odds to land Dalton.

NFL: Cincinnati Bengals at Miami Dolphins Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

It’s pretty much a given that Andy Dalton won’t be on the Bengals’ Week 1 roster. But the question remains as to how Dalton will ultimately depart from Cincinnati.

Initially, it looked like the Bengals would be able to trade Dalton to a quarterback-needy team. However, the first few waves of free agency have led to most of these teams addressing the position.

Now, the folks at BetOnline have released new odds concerning the NFL’s quarterback carousel. In regards to Dalton, the Dolphins are now the ‘favorite’ to have him on their roster for Week 1.

The problem here is Miami already has Ryan Fitzpatrick, who frankly was better than Dalton in 2019 with a worse supporting cast. They also have Josh Rosen, who they gave up a second-round pick for last year, and are expected to select a quarterback in the top 10 of this year’s draft. That’s making it very hard to see Dalton being an option for them, even as a backup.

You could argue the Redskins — who have the second-best odds — are just as unlikely, being that they already have 2019 first-round pick Dwayne Haskins. Alex Smith is also still on the roster and could possibly return to football this year after his gruesome leg injury in 2018. Also, Washington has the No. 2 overall pick in this year’s draft, and a quarterback like Tua Tagovailoa isn’t out of the question there.

Of these listed teams, which do you think has the best chance of landing Dalton? Let us know in the comments section.
