NFL Video Draft Profile: Willie Gay Jr. is what the Bengals need at LB

The Bengals need an athletic linebacker and Willie Gay Jr. is the new NFL prototype for linebackers in terms of size and athleticism

Willie Gay Jr. Video Draft Profile

The Bengals for awhile have really needed help at linebacker and while Germaine Pratt looked good at the end of last season they still need two linebackers on the field every play. They signed Josh Bynes who is a good stop gap, but they still need to address the position long term. Willie Gay Jr. is an intriguing prospect with some off the field questions who has everything you want in terms of athleticism at the linebacker position. Giving Gay some time to learn and not have to start immediately is the ideal situation for a prospect that is a bit raw.

Let’s take a look at exactly how his athleticism looked at the Combine.

Height: 6’1”

Weight: 243

40-yard dash: 4.46

Broad Jump: 136”

Vertical Jump: 39.5”

3-cone Drill: 7.08

20 Yard shuttle: 4.3
