NFL Draft Video Profile: Grant Delpit has the tools to be an elite centerfield safety

Breaking down former LSU safety Grant Delpit for the 2020 NFL Draft.

Grant Delpit Video Draft Profile

The Cincinnati Bengals already had Jessie Bates III and Shawn Williams at safety going into this offseason before they signed Vonn Bell, so the question can definitely be asked if safety is a need anymore. On the other hand, Williams is entering the final year of his deal and Bell played the best as essentially a linebacker in the box.

Would pairing another ball hawking safety with tackling issues with Bates have its problems? Yes, it would, but adding Grant Delpit to the Bengals secondary may be too enticing to pass up if he is there at 33 and the team sees him as the best player available.

Delpit does have issues with his tackling form, but he also has great instincts and elite range from the middle of the field. He also had a decent amount of experience rolling down and covering the flats or the slot, so he brings the versatility necessary to consider him for the Bengals.
