The Cincinnati Bengals knew who they were going to draft tonight with the first-overall pick. How long did they know it was going to be Joe Burrow? We don’t know the exact answer. But we do they knew it sometime this week.
According to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, Burrow received a letter yesterday from Bengals owner Mike Brown, officially welcoming him to the franchise. He concluded the letter by saying he looks forward “to building championship football teams with you for years to come.”
Bengals president Mike Brown officially welcomed LSU QB Joe Burrow to Cincinnati on Wednesday, one day before the Draft. Brown sent Burrow a letter that said, amongst other things, that he looks forward “to building championship football teams with you for many years to come.”

Mike Brown also sent Joe Burrow and his parents No. 9 Bengals jerseys – jerseys for all of them -- which now officially will be the number that he will wear in Cincinnati. https://t.co/l0BDOnJJnx

Even in a time where online connectivity is so vital, it’s classic Mike Brown to do this. Brown has been known to hand-write letters to fans and season ticket holders alike. But it was a great and humble gesture from Brown to his new franchise quarterback.
No, I’m sure those trade offers from the Miami Dolphins were very tempting for Brown and company. Too bad for them that they already decided what they were going to do.
