With the 33rd overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Cincinnati Bengals have selected Clemson Tigers wide receiver Tee Higgins.
There was several reports today that the Bengals were trying to trade down from the 33rd pick, but they opted to keep the pick instead to take Higgins.
Coming into the day, wide receiver was viewed as one of the team’s biggest needs, so seeing a receiver be the pick is no surprise. Higgins was not only one of the best receivers in this draft, but also someone who was a first-round projection by several experts, so getting him here is nice value.
Higgins recorded 59 catches for 1,167 yards and 13 touchdowns for Clemson last season en route to their run to the national title game, where they lost to Joe Burrow and the LSU Tigers.
The 6-4, 215 pound Higgins is tied with NFL stars Sammy Watkins and DeAndre Hopkins for the all-time touchdown record for a Clemson receiver (27). He caught 135 passes for 2,448 yards over his three-year career.
Higgins now joins an absolutely stacked receiver group that includes A.J. Green, Tyler Boyd, Auden Tate and John Ross.
The Bengals’ remaining top draft needs are:
LB, OT, OG, DE, CB
The best players still available.
