With the 107th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Cincinnati Bengals have selected Appalachian State linebacker Akeem Davis-Gaither.
Coming into Day 3, Davis-Gaither was regarded as one of the best players left on the board, so this was a very nice value pick. He was Pro Football Focus’ 67th-best prospect coming into the draft.
This marks the second linebacker the Bengals has taken in the draft, as they took Wyoming linebacker Logan Wilson with their third-round pick.
Linebacker was arguably the team’s biggest need after quarterback coming into the draft, so it’s no surprise to see them take two within their first four selections.
At 6-1 and 224 pounds, Davis-Gaither was the Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year this past season, as he racked up 101 total tackles, 14.5 tackles for loss, five sacks, one interception, eight pass breakups, and one blocked kick.
The Bengals coached Davis-Gaither at the Senior Bowl, so that prior connection helped him land in Cincinnati.
The Bengals’ remaining top draft needs are:
OT, OG, DE, TE, CB
The best players still available.
