Austin Calitro wasn’t the only player the Cincinnati Bengals claimed at the top of the waiver wire.
The Enquirer’s Tyler Dragon reports that the Bengals have also claimed running back Samaje Perine.

The Bengals also announced the Perine addition along with Calitro.

Perine was originally claimed as a waiver pickup by the Bengals last year before the regular season began. With how limited the offense was at running back at the time, Perine made the Week 1 roster and took 119 total snaps on offense and special teams combined.
After Week 6, Perine was released by the team. He was later signed to the practice squad and lasted there until Week 16 when the Miami Dolphins signed him to their roster. He was released by the Dolphins yesterday.
With Perine back in the fold, the Bengals now have seven running backs on the roster, including recent free agent signing Jacques Patrick and college free agent Devwah Whaley. Seven is a larger than normal number of running backs for the Bengals to roster during the offseason, but they now have five more openings before they get to the 90-man limit.
