Our collective sets of eyes move towards potential camps with the Cincinnati Bengals, as they’ve made their draft selections and wrangled in a number of talented undrafted free agents. It was an exciting cap to the two-month kickoff of a new NFL calendar year for the team, as they landed some big names in both the rookie and free agency classes.
We discuss this year’s newest crop of rookies on this week’s Orange and Black Insider—namely who has a chance to have the greatest impact early on and which undrafted guys have the best shot at landing on the final roster. We also try and gauge where the team is at to this point, as well as looking at their perceived weaknesses and strengths.
The episode wouldn’t be complete without a debate, though. Data and player metrics are a major part of the scouting process, but what about non-quantifiable areas that pop up on tape?
Some specifics from the show:
- Scotty Washington, Mitchell Wilcox, Kendall Futrell and Isiah Swann are players we feel could make the final roster as UDFAs.
- Outside of Joe Burrow, Tee Higgins and Logan Wilson seem to be primed for the highest-impact roles on the team, immediately-speaking.
- Speaking of Higgins, the data points to a specific pro ceiling for the former Clemson Tiger, but traits that aren’t measurable may have something to say about that.
