Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow will be a very rich man soon, but he’ll have to wait on collecting his first big payday.
Burrow recently told ESPN that the coronavirus pandemic will prevent him from signing his first contract.
“We’re just waiting to see what happens over the next three months because we really don’t know,” Burrow said.
The primary reason is likely because the pandemic is forcing teams to be more careful with how much money they spend, especially with a guy like Burrow who will have a $24 million signing bonus as the No. 1 overall pick.
Burrow’s full contract will be worth around $36 million overall. There have been other rookies signing deals with other teams, but none of them obviously have the amount of money tied to their contracts as Burrow does with the Bengals.
Hopefully, everything works out and Burrow is signing his first NFL deal very soon.
