It’s a huge challenge learning to play quarterback at the NFL, so rookie Joe Burrow already faced an uphill battle. But now with the current pandemic, he hasn’t been able to get the kind of face-to-face engagement with his head coach, Zac Taylor, that he would have liked.
That doesn’t seem to matter very much.
Bengals team reporter Marisa Contipelli told us that Burrow is “really embracing” Taylor’s offense by way of their virtual meetings on Zoom and “putting everything he has into it.”
“Zac’s as confident as he probably could be having to do everything virtually and teach a rookie quarterback the ropes and the playbook,” she said. “All signs show that Joe Burrow is the real deal so far,” Contipelli continued.
While we all know that Burrow is brilliant at reading defenses and will no doubt pick up the playbook quickly for a first-year player, it’s still a relief to hear things are going so well from an official representative of the team.
