Former Bengals tackle Andrew Whitworth has announced that his family was hit with the COVID-19 virus recently. Whitworth revealed the news Friday on an NFLPA call, saying it was just one person that caught the virus and spread it to the rest of his immediate family, as well as some of his in-laws.
Thankfully, everyone is fine now, but Whitworth’s father-in-law was hospitalized.
Rams OT Andrew Whitworth joins NFLPA call, tells reporters he had a family member who went out to lunch with a friend, contracted coronavirus, and soon after Whitworth, his wife and kids and his wife's mother and father all caught it. "All it takes is one exposure."

This is just one of countless examples of how easily the virus can spread through a group of people with just one person being infected. It’s great to hear no one lost their life in this instance, but it’s still a terrifying situation to fathom.
Whitworth, who spent his first 11 seasons with the Bengals, has been with Rams since 2017 and signed a new three-year deal this offseason worth $30 million.
Here’s to hoping the Whitworth family stays safe and healthy as he gets ready for the upcoming NFL season.
