Cincinnati Bengals: 6 reasons for optimism as training camp approaches
And while things are unorthodox, there are reasons for optimism. Here’s a look at a few major points to remember when thinking about a team trying to rebound from a two-win season.

Trae Waynes: Wait to officially sign with Bengals has been a headache
The Bengals are waiting to formalize things until Waynes can take a physical with the team’s doctors and that wait continues even though Waynes has moved to Cincinnati ahead of his first season with the team. Waynes’ agent said recently that the cornerback has been advised not to do any football drills or otherwise risky workouts because of that decision.

A.J. Green, Trae Waynes Bengals swinging in limbo during negotiations
The Cincinnati Bengals can’t do much but wait for the NFL and NFLPA to iron out the details of training camp and the mere arrival of players at team families, leaving big names like A.J. Green and Trae Waynes swinging aimlessly in the wind.

LaVar Arrington: Joe Burrow will bring 'franchise quarterback' talent to Bengals [Video]
LaVar Arrington joins Emmanuel Acho and Marcellus Wiley to talk Joe Burrow, who's heading into his rookie season as the Cincinnati Bengals quarterback. LaVar tells the others why he's optimistic that Burrow will bring a franchise quarterback level of talent to his rookie season.

Joe Burrow, Tua Tagovailoa should be inspired by Patrick Mahomes' deal
The 10-year, $503 million extension doesn’t just break the NFL record for quarterback compensation. It shatters it. Every quarterback who has recently signed a contract is now kicking themselves for jumping the gun. That concern doesn’t apply to signal-callers who are only beginning their rookie-scale deals.

What do the Cincinnati Bengals do with John Ross after this year?
John Ross has been one of the most interesting players on the Bengals roster since they selected him ninth overall in the 2017 NFL draft. The former Washington standout has since become a somewhat controversial name in Cincinnati, not for any off the field incidents but rather for his inability to stay on the field or produce on a consistent basis.

Chiefs, Patrick Mahomes agree to 10-year, $503M extension
The Chiefs and the quarterback reached an agreement on a 10-year contract extension that will keep the Super Bowl Most Valuable Player in K.C. through the 2031 season, NFL Network's Michael Silver reported, per a source informed of the deal. It is worth a colossal $503 million with $477 million in guarantee mechanisms which gives Mahomes the ability to have outs if the mechanisms are not exercised, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport and NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported.

Winners and losers from Patrick Mahomes' contract extension
The Chiefs announced a 10-year contract extension Monday afternoon that keeps Mahomes under team control through the 2031 season. The full contract terms have started to emerge, but they also feel beside the point in this case. The length is the point. A deal this large over this long a timeline cuts against NFL trends. In the Chiefs' best-case scenario, the deal will probably be ripped up once or twice before 2031 anyhow. The Chiefs know they've already landed the best-case scenario -- Mahomes is their quarterback. This contract ensures that is not going to change anytime soon.

Patriots QB Cam Newton: 'I'm getting tired of being humble'
"I'm really a killa. I'm really a killa," he said. "You hear me? I'm getting tired of all this humble s----. Because, when you're humble, they start taking advantage of you. When you don't say nothing, they start taking advantage of you. But the hyenas can be doing all of this, the elephants can be doing all of what they do, the giraffes, the antelopes, the chimpanzees, even the gorilla. But there's one (expletive) animal in the jungle and when he roars, everything stops. And I'm about to (expletive) roar."

Niners swap cornerbacks, sign Jamar Taylor, waive Teez Tabor
A second-round pick by the Dolphins in 2013, Taylor has bounced around the NFL in recent seasons. He earned his most productive stretch starting 29 games over two seasons in Cleveland from 2016-2017. Last year Taylor appeared in three games with the Atlanta Falcons and nine with the Seattle Seahawks, finishing with 21 tackles and three passes defended.
