After passing his physical, Mike Daniels is now a Bengal.
The Bengals desperately needed depth at defensive tackle after losing Ryan Glasgow and Josh Tupou. Part of the plan for this season was to put Geno Atkins on a pitch count so he could influence the game in the fourth quarter. But it seemed like the depth behind him was waning.
The Bengals brought in Daniels for a visit, which can only be done in this offseason if the team has an intention to sign him.
It turns out that they did, and they signed him to a one-year, $2.7 million deal.
Daniels played for the Packers and the Lions, and was Pro Bowler in 2017. Injuries have derailed the 31-year-old, but now is will have a different role than what he is used to. Instead of being the centerpiece of the line, he will now be a reliever for Atkins.
