The Bengals may have lost another defender to a significant injury.
During Tuesday’s morning practice, veteran safety Shawn Williams went down with an undisclosed injury and had to be carted off the field. This comes after defensive tackle Renell Wren was carted off the field Monday with a lower-body injury.
Looks like Shawn Williams tweaked something early in practice. Was getting looked at and now going back in to the locker room on a cart. #Bengals

As for the Bengals’ injured receivers, both A.J. Green and Tee Higgins were present Tuesday, but Green was not in pads. The veteran receiver tweaked his hamstring Monday, and it’s not believed to be a significant injury. Higgins suffered a minor leg injury last week.

The Williams news is concerning, as he’s been one of the Bengals’ biggest leaders since becoming a starter in 2016. Now entering his eighth season, Williams has racked up 100+ tackles in each of the past two seasons while starting every game. He also has six interceptions over that span.
The Bengals did sign Vonn Bell this offseason, but Williams is still expected to have a major role since he gets snaps at safety and linebacker.
