The Cincinnati Bengals are working hard as they prepare for the upcoming season that is just right around the corner.
Earlier in the week, we saw the Bengals take the field for their first padded practice, and on Friday, they had their first scrimmage, which was a very productive one for the offense.
After No. 1 overall draft pick Joe Burrow didn’t have his best showing for that practice, he came back Friday and put on a show in the scrimmage, despite not having A.J. Green as he continues to rehab his hamstring injury. Tee Higgins and John Ross were also out today, but Burrow still did great with the receivers he did have, namely Auden Tate and Tyler Boyd.
Here is how Twitter reacted to Friday’s scrimmage:

#Bengals safety Shawn Williams working out on stationary bike as team warms up for scrimmage so still out .. AJ Green will also miss scrimmage although was planned prior to his injury Monday @Local12

Joe Burrow’s first possession in #Bengals scrimmage: 11 play touchdown drive. Burrow goes 6-for-6, hitting Auden Tate with a back shoulder fade at the front left pylon for the TD. Burrow also kept the drive alive with a third down scramble for a first down

We can’t shoot this part of the scrimmage, but I can tell you....
— Jeremy Rauch (@FOX19Jeremy) August 21, 2020
Joe Burrow just threw a touchdown to Auden Tate. It was highly impressive. #Bengals @FOX19
Wow. Hell of a first scrimmage drive for Joe Burrow. Goes 6 of 6 for 69 yards, including a third-and-14 conversion to Auden Tate, then a perfect goal-to-go fade to Tate for a TD. That’ll do.

Burrow has established great chemistry with both Tyler Boyd and Auden Tate this week before getting any real work in with two of this other top targets: AJ Green and John Ross. Tee Higgins is also getting eased back in as he returns from a tight hammy. Encouraging. https://t.co/fmum3rOLJl

Auden Tate’s still got it. #Bengals pic.twitter.com/4ffmw0yuYu

Good grief ... Joe Burrow dropping dimes And ....wait for it ... Bobby Heart looking ... NOT BAD. #bengals

Hubbard, in coverage, just blew up Uzomah in the end zone #Bengals

Joe Burrow just found Auden Tate again for another score. 9 and 19 seem to have a great rapport. Burrow led the first-team down the field for the TD without Mixon or Boyd

Burrow: 2 Drives. 2 TDS. Both TD passes red zone fades to Tate.
— Geoff Hobson (@GeoffHobsonCin) August 21, 2020
Joe Burrow has one incompletion in two drives.
— Jeremy Rauch (@FOX19Jeremy) August 21, 2020
Another DIME to Auden Tate in the corner. Touchdown. #Bengals @FOX19
Bengals move to drives starting at the defense’s 30 and Burrow sputters, settling for two FGs.

Meanwhile, Ryan Finley with two quick-strike TD passes. A 31-yarder to Alex Erickson and 30-yarder to Mason Schreck on a beautiful play call throwing back off a play action.
This should come as no surprise to anyone, but I’ve seen Auden Tate make a handful of difficult and contested catches today - and he’s come down with each one. Two of them so far for TDs in the scrimmage

Offense back out there ... Burrow underthrows deep ball BUT hits TE for a 40 yarder on next play. #bengals

Burrow leads offense on another long TD drive (vs second team defense) highlighted by a huge gain on a pass up the seam to Drew Sample. Drive ends with TD run by Samaje Perine. Did it without Tate or Boyd on field during drive (not hurt, just taking the series off)

I am enjoying the Bengals scrimmage tweets.

Joe Burrow giving the #Bengals accuracy down the field is going to give defenses absolute fits.

Quick eye opening moment on the third-string live tackling drive. RB Jacques Patrick goes bonkers with a 41-yard run off the right side, then a barreling 14-yard TD run off the left. Nice showing by the UDFA.
— Paul Dehner Jr. (@pauldehnerjr) August 21, 2020
Burrow: 13 of 18 with TDS on all theee drives. Last one against back-up defenders capped off on long TD run by Perine
— Geoff Hobson (@GeoffHobsonCin) August 21, 2020
Just got done watching #bengals scrimmage. I'm not a pro scout by any means but Burrow looked so comfortable like he has been facing NFL defenses for more than 2 weeks. I've never been more excited about the #bengals than I am now.

And that’s a wrap .. great day!!! Joe Burrow, Audin Tate, Jonah Williams, Alex Erickson ... more too... boys looked good. #bengals pic.twitter.com/AZSfa5yeMQ

My unofficial scrimmage numbers for Joe Burrow: 3 TD and 2 FG on 5 drives (both FG on drives that started at the opponent’s 30, so wins for the defense). 13-for-19 with 2 TD to Auden Tate. One risky throw rolling left and throwing deep over middle. Highly impressive overall
