A.J. Green has had his fair share of injuries in recent years, which have led to him missing a combined 29 games over the last four seasons, almost two full seasons of football.
So you’ll have to excuse Bengals fans who were a tad concerned when Green exited last Monday’s practice with a hamstring injury, which has kept him sidelined over a week now.
Thankfully, it sounds like Green is recovering well and should be back on the practice field sometime this week, according to head coach Zac Taylor. It could come as soon as Wednesday’s practice session, and Green may be able to go in Sunday’s scrimmage, which is effectively a preseason game.
Taylor said he expects A.J. Green to return to practice this week, should be back in action Wednesday. Green was on the rehab field yesterday. The team is off today. #Bengals

Green is set to play under the one-year franchise tag this season after being unable to agree to a long-term contract with the Bengals this past offseason. The team hopes Green is able to stay healthy, play the majority of the 2020 season, and show he’s still one of the game’s best receivers, then hopefully sign him to a long-term extension next offseason.
But if Green has another injury setback that leads to him missing a good chunk of the upcoming season, that could kill any hope of a long-term deal, which could lead to this being the final season for Green in Bengals stripes.
That’s why the team has been ultra-cautious with what’s believed to be a minor hamstring issue that probably wouldn’t have cost Green much time if this were the regular season.
We can only hope.
