The Bengals today signed free agent S Maurice Smith, and waived K Tristian Vizcaino.
Smith is a third-year defensive back who was originally a college free agent out of the University of Georgia. The Miami Dolphins signed him in 2017 after he went undrafted and spent two seasons in Miami before joining Washington in 2019. He has played in 15 career games, and has six tackles and two passes defensed.
Smith played under Bengals defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo in Miami for one season in 2017, when Anarumo was the Dolphins’ defensive backs coach. Smith appeared in two games during the middle of that season.
The team had tried out Smith during the team’s day off on Tuesday.

Vizcaino, a first-year player, had signed with the Bengals at the beginning of August. He was a college free agent signed by the team last year before being waived at the conclusion of the preseason. Vizcaino was also with the Cowboys earlier this offseason before rejoining the Bengals.
