The Bengals today elevated defensive lineman Amani Bledsoe and safety Trayvon Henderson from the practice squad to the active roster for Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers. These moves brings Cincinnati’s active roster to a total of 55 players.

In accordance to the new roster rules this year, clubs have the option to roster 55 players by promoting two practice squad players for a single week. The Bengals can still only activate a maximum of 48 players on the active roster for game day.

Bledsoe and Henderson will revert back to the practice squad on Monday, but they will be needed for Sunday’s game. DL Geno Atkins and S Shawn Williams have both been declared out, so depth is needed at both of those position groups.

It’s safe to assume both Bledsoe and Henderson will not only be active, but will indeed play snaps on defense as well as on special teams.
