UPDATE
The Bengals have announced C.J. Uzomah is out for the remainder of the game with a right Achilles injury.
Bengals starting tight end C.J. Uzomah suffered a lower-body injury late in the Bengals’ Week 2 matchup with the Browns.
It came late in the fourth quarter with Cincinnati driving into Browns territory down 28-16. Uzomah caught a pass over the middle for a first down, but as he was tackled to the ground, he began writhing in pain as he slammed his helmet to the ground.
It’s unclear what the exact injury was, but it was bad enough that Uzomah couldn’t get to his feet and had to be carted off the field. He’s now in the locker room for further testing.
In the first half, Uzomah caught what’s been the Bengals’ only touchdown of the game so far — a 23-yard strike from Joe Burrow, which was also the rookie’s first passing score.
If Uzomah is out for an extended period, second-year man Drew Sample is the next man up.
We will update this post if any more details come out...
