The Bengals today placed TE C.J. Uzomah on the Reserve/Injured list. In a corresponding move, they’ve signed TE Mason Schreck from the practice squad.
Uzomah, a sixth-year player out of Auburn, tore his right Achilles injury during Thursday’s game against the Cleveland Browns. As the offense’s No. 1 tight end, Uzomah played 96 snaps during their first two games. He was the recipient of QB Joe Burrow’s first career touchdown pass against the Browns. He now finishes the season with eight catches for 87 yards and that touchdown.
Schreck, a third-year player out of the University of Buffalo, was waived during final cuts this offseason and was signed back to the practice squad. The Bengals used one of their four protected spots on Schreck during the first two weeks of the season. He has played in eight career games for Cincinnati, but has yet to record a single regular season catch.
