The Bengals are bringing back offensive line coach Frank Pollack.
The Bengals’ offensive line under Zac Taylor has been bad, and his hire Jim Turner took the fall. With the job vacant, the Bengals went to a familiar, yet unexpected face.
Pollack was the Bengals’ offensive line coach in 2018 under Marvin Lewis. But when Lewis was fired, Pollack was a casualty of the changing regime. Taylor brought in Turner, and Pollack went to the Jets.
However, the Jets just fired their head coach Adam Gase, so with a new regime in New York, Pollack became a free agent again.
When Taylor hired his new staff from scratch, many thought that Pollack should have been one of the few assistants he retained. The consensus among Bengals fans is that Pollack never should have left in the first place, so bringing him back corrects that error.
First of all, some players who played under him in 2018 are excited to see him back again.

I liked Pollack. He tends to get the unit playing more cohesive. Usually has a run game that produces. He was correct about the Frank Ragnow evaluation.

"Under Pollack’s direction in 2018, Cincinnati’s offensive line ranked 11th in the NFL in fewest sacks allowed per game (2.3), while also paving the way for HB Joe Mixon to log career-highs in rushing yards (1168), average yards per attempt (4.9) and rushing TDs (eight)." https://t.co/pFXB0soksQ

It's a Bengals move to bring back an old face, sure. But it's correcting a mistake that should've never been made in the first place. Call it a wash and let them get back to work.

Frank Pollack should've never been allowed to leave. This is an A+ move.

Frank Pollack is the best offensive line coach in my opinion that the Bengals could’ve gotten not named Bill Callahan.

Oh my God! Frank Pollack would literally have been my number one choice. I was terribly upset when he left, and I never imagined that it would have been a realistic option to have him return. This is a huge win for the @Bengals org! https://t.co/clyMFbjiWK

"There'll be some changes. Some things will be the same. You don't want to have change for change sake. Those guys have a lot of good stuff already in our offense. I'm sure there'll be a couple of things I'd like to maybe add." https://t.co/bJW4ysnEZB
