The Bengals are expected to part ways with three assistant coaches at the end of the season.
Offensive line coach Jim Turner, defensive line coach Nick Eason, and defensive assistant Gerald Chatman are all on the chopping block, according to Elise Jessie and Ben Baby.
The offensive line and the defense have been problems for the Bengals dating back to the Marvin Lewis days.
Despite drafting Jonah Williams and bringing in Xavier Su’a-Filo, the Bengals have still struggled on the offensive line. The Bengals also drafted Michael Jordan, who has been a very inconsistent guard, and signed Bobby Hart to a three-year contract.
The Bengals are letting Turner go at the end of the season in order to help save the offensive line. This is also an interesting move since the Bengals will be in a position to pick Penei Sewell, Alex Leatherwood, or an extremely talented offensive lineman in the first round.
Eason and Chatman, who masterminded the defensive line, are also out of a job. The worst indictment against them is that they got no production out of Geno Atkins and Carlos Dunlap, the best defensive line duo in franchise history.
The defense has improved enough that the Bengals are satisfied with Lou Anarumo, and other assistants like Al Golden.
